Driver Inexperience is the number one cause of novice driver collisions. A driver education program or a couple of practice hours is not enough. They will need lots of practice and only you as their primary driving coach can provide them with the practice they need to not only survive but to build a solid foundation for being a safe and responsible driver!
Coaching New Drivers is about community. A community of like-minded parents and guardians of teen drivers determined to decrease the staggering collision, injury and fatality rates of our young drivers.
This program has several components to help us all achieve this mission:
Mike Pehl is a 30-year veteran crash investigator and driving educator. An accident involving a high school friend changed Mike’s life forever and eventually lead him to his life’s passion of helping parents and new drivers avoid tragedies like the one involving his friend and the millions of drivers and families affected by collisions each year.
The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), an organization representing state highway safety offices, cited parental involvement as the most important factor in keeping young drivers safe on the road: “While development and behavior issues coupled with inexperience impact teen crash risk, parents play a critical role in helping teens survive their most dangerous driving years.”
12 Steps to Provide the Experience they Need
The Danger Zone Training course has been designed to provide coaches and new drivers with important information on how to avoid being impacted by one of these situations.
Each month, for six months, a new lesson will be made available to view on your new driver training platform and one dash cam lesson will be delivered in your monthly coaching newsletter. This type of “drip-learning” has been shown to greatly increase the long-term retention of learned information, enabling your new driver to keep these strategies top of mind during the most critical time of their driving career.
Top 8 Causes of Novice Driver Collisions
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.gov) have identified the following 8 Danger Zones shown below as the leading causes contributing to novice driver collisions.
Each month, for six months, we will email you our newsletter with a notification of that month’s Danger Zone lesson, bonus coaching materials, tips and tricks and additional video resources for your new driver training.
We are so confident you’ll love our coaching system, we offer a no questions asked 30 day money back guarantee in the unlikely event you are not satisfied!
This course is designed for the coach and the teen. It is beneficial to have both of you review the course material prior to heading out on the road. This will ensure both parties are more prepared, less stressed, and will create a better learning environment.
Ideally, you should start this program when your new driver first receives their Learner’s or Instruction Permit regardless of whether they are taking formal drivers education yet or not.
If they already have their Learner’s or Instruction Permit, it is recommended you review the lessons, and start at the level they are currently at in their supervised driving experience.
No, there is only the one-time fee when you purchase the course.
Once registered, you will receive all of the resources we offer including both online courses, monthly newsletters and access to the Coaching New Drivers resource center.
You will have access to the course for 12 months as of your purchase date. This gives you plenty of time to complete the course with your teen before they hit the road!
This course does NOT replace formal driver education.
This program is a supplement to formal driver education to help parents and their teens build on that driving education. This is achieved through the practice of driving and learning to be aware of dangerous situations.
We also supply tips and tricks every month through our parent newsletter series.
